Introduction and Mission
The Black Water Professionals Alliance Inc (BWPA) is a 501c3 organization. Their mission is to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion by fostering a community focused on networking, professional development, and leadership opportunities for Black people in the water industry.
The Black Water Professionals Alliance Inc (BWPA) was officially incorporated as a 501c3 organization in 2023 and received sponsorship from Spinrg Point Partners. Through the Black Water Professionals Alliance LinkedIn group, the Black Water Professionals Alliance (BWPA) has grown its online community to over 270 members and supporters in under three years.
As an organization and as individuals, the Board of the Black Water Professionals Alliance is committed to practicing thoughtful and equitable leadership. Hosting their first BWPA Board Member Retreat in 2024, the board members will go through training and facilitating to advance strategic organization structure through workshops and practices to anchor the organization to be a pillar for Black Water Professionals.

To catalyze true change in the water sector, the Black Water Professionals Alliance (BWPA) seeks to influence impact in the following three areas:
Professional Development for Black Water Professionals: BWPA seeks to help Black Water Professionals find their space in the water sector by reducing feelings of isolation, promoting network development, and providing leadership and development training.
Transforming the Water Industry: BWPA seeks to transform the water industry through increasing diversity, solving water problems equitably, and developing sustainable workforce pipelines to recruit and retain a diverse workforce.
Uplifting Communities: BWPA seeks to solve problems and close the wealth gap and other inequitable systems and practices experienced by Black and low-income communities.

The Vision

Flattening the learning curve for new professionals through network and industry support for current and future Black Water Professionals.
Providing resources, training, awards, and employment opportunities internally for our members while highlighting and sharing member successes to encourage professional growth and sponsorship.
Recruiting Black people and professionals to the water industry at every position and organization level.
Identifying and helping develop internal leaders, improving retention among Black employees, and recruiting underrepresented individuals.
Developing professionals uniquely skilled to serve communities disproportionately affected by water issues.
Creating access to livable wage jobs in the water industry.
Eliminating disparate professional conditions by increasing representation transparency and trust.
